“I believe strongly in empathy, hard work, and community. That’s why my campaign will focus on lowering the cost of living and healthcare for families, protecting public education and reproductive rights, and addressing the climate crisis.”
– Caitlin Draper
Caitlin Draper is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with a clinical focus on Autism Spectrum Disorder and eating disorders, as well as an educator that has taught at the University of Arkansas at the School of Social Work. She has made it her mission to to improve the lives of children and families in Northwest Arkansas and the River Valley, and it’s why she answered the call to run for office. She has seen the results that our country’s failed policies have had on her clients, and knows that Arkansas can be a place where we take care of our most vulnerable instead of bullying them, and help working families get ahead instead of gutting public services to give more to the wealthiest.
She is also undergoing IVF treatment, and has seen how restrictions on reproductive healthcare have made it harder for her to become a mother. She has had to worry about whether or not she could get care in this state if she experiences complications, and it’s not something any woman in Arkansas or anywhere in the U.S. should have to wonder about.
Caitlin lives in Fayetteville with her husband John, as well as her two cats George and Junie.
Arkansas’s 3rd Congressional District is one of the most beautiful and dynamic places to call home. The district is home to breathtaking views of the Ozarks and wonderful state parks like Devil’s Den, as well as the state’s largest university, one of the fastest-growing metropolitan areas in the country, and some of the largest businesses in America, including Walmart, Tyson, and J.B. Hunt.
It is a young and vibrant region with incredible diversity, including the first Hispanic majority-minority state representative district in the state. The people of Benton, Carroll, Crawford, Madison, Sebastian, and Washington County are some of the most open-minded and caring people there are, and they are what has pushed this region forward. Northwest Arkansas and the River Valley have changed a lot over the past decade, and it’s time our representation changes, too.
